About the Hatton Court Hotel Cotswolds

Despite its imposing appearance today, the original house that forms the heart of Hatton Court was built in the 1920's as a home for the mistress of a prominent local businessman, so rumour has it. It was first put to use as a hotel in the 1950's and called the 'Tara' which is an old Gaelic word meaning 'hill.'

The current owners, the Hiscox family, purchased the hotel in 1984 when it was known as The Tara Hotel. Many locals still refer to the hotel as “The Tara”, so the decision was taken in 2009 to rename the restaurant “The Tara” following its refurbishment.

The views of the Severn Vale from the hotel are considered to be some of the best in the Cotswolds, earning its place as a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and popular venue for weddings.
